From the Sanskrit meaning to yoke, integrate, bring together, yoga harmonizes opposing energies; it resides in the space where strength yields to softness and softness conveys strength. The interplay of opposites is fundamental to the Thrive experience, where we engage the balance between levity and intensity of focus, humor and discipline, effort and ease.

Stretch. Sweat.

Music. Community.

Since 2003, Thrive has been cultivating a community of yogis of all levels. People are drawn to the authenticity they find here, the deep reverence for the practice of yoga balanced by humor, warmth, and the assurance of a humbling workout set to a great playlist. This is a studio where you’ll find people talking across their mats to eachother before class, and it might be hard to tell which ones are the old friends who have been practicing side by side for years, and which are the strangers who just met as they rolled out their mats. It’s a welcoming, accepting community forged through the challenge and focus of the practice; we are pulled together in the experience of getting close to the fire, stepping outside of ourselves, and then emerging, perhaps shaky, certainly sweaty, but revitalized and empowered, cheeks aglow.

  • We highly recommend booking classes in advance to secure your spot as some classes are likely to be fully booked each week, sometimes a few days in advance (the 9am Sunday Revival in particular – sign up early!). You can book classes through the schedule here, or via the Mindbody app on your mobile device.
  • You may cancel up to one hour before the scheduled class time without the class being deducted from your account (if you have purchased a drop-in, you will retain a credit for one drop-in).
  • If a class is fully booked, it will say "Waitlist Only" – you can add yourself to the waitlist, and if another student cancels their reservation you will be moved up on the waitlist or automatically added to the class.
  • If you have booked a class but are not there to claim your spot by 5 minutes before class time, your spot may be given to a waitlisted student.
  • Please check in at the front desk when arriving for class, whether or not you have signed up in advance.

What kind of yoga does Thrive offer?

All of our classes are Vinyasa-based, meaning we flow from one pose to the next, and sequences are generally built around sun salutations, with an emphasis on the rhythm of the breath. Check the schedule and read our class descriptions, as some classes are designed to be more challenging and stamina-building, whereas others offer a milder approach. All classes are set to music, with musical styles varying from mellow or instrumental to make-you-wiggle hip hop and pop.

I’ve never done yoga before, what class should I start with?

A great place to start would be one of the non-heated 10:30am classes on Tuesdays or 11:00am on Sundays. Keep in mind that in any class every pose can be modified, and you should always feel free to stop for a sip of water or to rest quietly in child’s pose if a class becomes too intense for your current practice level. If it’s your first time at Thrive or your first yoga class in general, please let your instructor know, and tell them if you are working with any injuries or restrictions – they’ll be happy to assist you and suggest any modifications that might benefit you.

What should I bring with me to class?

Many of our classes are heated and can get pretty sweaty, so in addition to a yoga mat we recommend bringing a towel (or two!). Don’t have your own mat or towel? Mats and hand towels are both available for rent at the front desk for $2. Filtered water is available but please bring your own water bottle.

I’ve never done hot yoga before, what should I expect?

Expect a detoxifying, sweaty experience. We recommend bringing a towel – many students like a yoga towel that is designed to fit over a yoga mat as well as a smaller towel for wiping themselves and/or their practice space. If it’s your first hot yoga class, let your instructor know and always feel free to rest and drink water as needed.

I’m pregnant, can I take heated classes?

As with any exercise regime during pregnancy, please consult your doctor before beginning or if you have any concerns. In general, we recommend that you have been practicing hot yoga for a minimum of one year if you are going to practice in heated classes while pregnant.

What should I wear to class?

We recommend moisture-wicking, comfortable attire that you can easily move and stretch in. Closer fitting items tend to work better as baggy clothes can be cumbersome when you are moving and sweating. We practice barefoot, so please leave your shoes in the hallway or a cubby. What not to wear to yoga class: some attire is just not appropriate for the yoga studio setting, including jeans, and undergarments such as boxer shorts. Please do not wear perfume or scented products.

Do I need to sign up for classes in advance?

Advance sign up is not required but it is recommended; some weekly classes always book up a few days prior, so advance sign-up assures that you have a reserved spot. You can sign up through the Mindbody app, or via our schedule page.

Is my spot guaranteed if I sign up in advance?

Your spot will be held until class time. If you do not check in to claim your spot by the time class begins, your spot may be given to a student from the waitlist – please always arrive at least 10 minutes before class to claim your spot, put away your belongings, and prepare for class.

My child is interested in getting into yoga, can I bring them to class?

Children under the age of 13 are not permitted in our classes, but check out our Workshops & Events page as we sometimes offer special Kids Yoga workshops. Teens 13 and over are welcome in all classes (we offer a Youth discount at the front desk for drop in classes!).

Are all the classes at Thrive the same style/same temperature/same music?

All of our classes are vinyasa-based, full of creative movement, and all are set to music – but classes will vary between instructors in style and sequencing. Each instructor makes their own playlists, so music will vary from class to class and season to season. You can read more about each instructor’s approach on the Instructors page. Approximate heat level for each class will be listed on the schedule.
